Things to do: Week of Oct. 20

Hello Carver! Halloween is right around the corner. With that, here are some spooky-themed events that are happening this week to help you get in the Halloween vibe.

Learn about the magic of escape

Join the Carver Council on Aging on Wednesday, Oct. 22 at 12:30 p.m. to learn about the life and legacy of Harry Houdini from local magician Jack Ryan. His lecture includes a psychic demonstration. To attend, organizers invite residents to register with Alice at 508-866-4698 x3 or via email at alice.mcmahon@carverma.gov.

A mystery is afoot!

Stop by the Carver Public Library anytime it’s open starting Friday, Oct. 24 through Halloween to solve the Scooby Doo-themed mystery of the haunted corn maze.

Boos and brews

Celebrate the spooky season at Three Sips Brewing Company in South Carver at 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24. The event will feature Halloween tunes and a costume contest with $200 to the winner, according to an event posting.

Trick or treat at the Farmer’s Market!

Looking for a good place to buy goods and spend Sunday afternoon? Stop by the Carver Farmer’s Market in Shurtleff Park. Every Sunday from June through October, there is a farmer’s market held in Shurtleff Park from 12 to 4 p.m. in Carver, Massachusetts. The market is a weekly event that offers pony rides, ice cream, flowers, singing, and more.

On Oct. 26, there will be a Halloween theme at the farmer’s market. The market will have candy and costumes worn by people of all ages.
