Carver is a news desert. Two years ago, the Carver Reporter stopped publishing, leaving Carver without a local news source to fairly and accurately report on town government and events. While nearby towns still maintain active, print newspapers, it is a growing trend across the country that local journalism has been shrinking. The Carver Journal seeks to keep local journalism alive in Carver, Massachusetts. We hope to help fill the gap that was left when the Carver Reporter stopped operating just about two years ago, this time in an online format.
The Carver Journal hopes to produce fair, comprehensive coverage of Carver news. This includes town government, major events and the issues that residents hold most important to them.
For now, I’ll be the only reporter (read my introduction here), so please be patient as I get everything started. This is a local news project, and I work a full time job outside of this. At least for now, the Carver Journal cannot and will not operate to the full extent of a professional newspaper. My hope is to provide as much coverage as I can, though.
The Carver Journal will begin releasing stories soon, so please be on the lookout for those. There are also social media pages on Instagram and Facebook, which will also be giving regular updates when stories are released. If you have any news tips, coverage requests, press releases, or other questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. Our contact information is listed under the Contact Us page.
